Two traditional powers have made it to the Class AA championship game Saturday evening at Ralph Wilson Stadium. North Tonawanda and Lancaster both bring perfect 9 & 0 records into the Section 6 Class AA championship game.
Both teams beat defending state champion Orchard Park on their way to the title game. Lancaster beat the Quakers in the regular season while the Lumberjacks dispatched them last week in the first round of the playoffs.
The teams run vastly difference offenses so how the defenses adjust will be a key to this game.
Both quarterbacks, Lancaster's Justin Juda and North Tonawanda's Mike Tuzzo can run and throw and throw on the run.
One huge key for Lancaster will be how they handle Lumberjacks fullback Joe Montesanti.
Lancaster was last at the stadium in 2007 when they lost to Orchard Park. North Tonawanda lost in the championship game to OP last year. The Redskins are 2 & 6 at the Ralph while NT is 2 & 5 at the stadium. North Tonawanda knocked off Lancaster in the semi-finals last year. The teams met at the Ralph once, way back in 1988 and Lancaster won that game.
