Sweet Home just barely avoided being upset by Grand Island in the Class A Championship game at Ralph Wilson Stadium Friday night.

The Panthers coughed up the football three times in the first quarter. The Vikings could only come up with seven points on the three turnovers.

Grand Island took the lead on a Andy LaLonde 17 yard run in the first quarter, but Sweet Home came back early in the second quarters. The Panthers Pat McMahon on 4th and 8 hit D.J. Nettles in the end zone for a 16 yard score. Nettles going way up to bring the ball down for six.

Grand Island took a 13 to 6 lead but Sweet Home scored twice in the fourth quarter to win the game. The Panthers move on as they try to repeat as New York State Class A Champions.
